EXTEND Training was established in 1976, and has around 25,000 older adults and disabled people attending classes nationwide, either in the community or in social care facilities. We are a registered charity based in Wheathampsted, Hertfordshire, with over 40 years of training experience and still growing. EXTEND exercise is the leading specialist in providing classes for older adults and disabled people. We also deliver accredited training for new and existing fitness professionals to join our growing EXTEND team.
To promote health, increase mobility and independence, improve strength, co-ordination and balance and to counteract loneliness and isolation. EXTEND’s unique style of exercise helps to improve wellbeing, not just physically but also enables older people to get out into their communities and engage socially.

Our friendly office team Hayley, Ann and Emma are based at Head Office and are committed in developing and nurturing EXTEND’s Exercise programme to reducing the symptoms of age related conditions and improving mobility.
Janine Rickus is our new member of the Head Office team. Her role as Business Development Manager has brought strategic analysis skills into the organisation, with current plans for future goals in development and business growth. These will be announced in our news section.
Janine is also a qualified EXTEND teacher with classes in the West Midlands Area. As part of her role, she will be implementing training sessions for new and existing fitness professionals. Click onto Training for more details.

Being a member, EXTEND has a supportive frame to allow us to build our professional and innovative platform. The EXTEND team are striving forward to achieve set goals and to create a healthier, independent lifestyle in which older Adults and Disabled people can grow.
EXTEND Exercise is a member of the Sport and Recreation Alliance, an umbrella body of over 300 national governing bodies of sport and recreation across the UK. The Sport and Recreation Alliance promotes the interests of sport and recreation, they also campaign on issues affecting National Governing Bodies of sport and recreation.
EXTEND approaches diversity, inclusion and cultural differences as a matter of course. The charity believes that diversity drives innovation. We are continuing to develop our network of teachers and training programs, providing the tools to help teachers grow and manage their careers. EXTEND teachers are specialised in planning and delivering classes to suit the physical and cultural needs of their participants in relation to their locality and general geographical demand.
