Maintain an independent active lifestyle through exercise

EXTEND Exercise offers Training for Teachers who would like to be able to design Exercise to Music physical activity programmes or to offer Chair Based Exercise classes for older adults and disabled people .

EXTEND Exercise Teachers provide Exercise To Music Classes and Chair Based Exercise Classes throughout the UK. Our mission is to promote health, increase mobility and independence, improve strength, co-ordination and balance and to counteract loneliness and isolation.

We are always looking for more teachers to join our organisation and support the delivery of exercise sessions for the older person and those with a disability of any age. For further information about training courses and how to become an EXTEND Exercise teacher please visit our Courses section. If you are interested in making a donation or supporting EXTEND Exercise in other ways please read our section on Sponsorship and Fundraising.

NEW FOR OCTOBER 2016!  Pilot course based on the original EXTEND training.

We can see that there are many caring people out there with a world
of knowledge and experience, who would make excellent exercise teachers, especially for those with long term conditions and age problems.

This course is designed for the recruitment of potential teachers, who may not otherwise be able to access a course, without prior learning in the exercise field.

See our courses page for more information.

Every year EXTEND Exercise supports the United Nations’ initiative “Older People’s Day” on 1 October. This year, EXTEND Exercise Teachers invited class members, friends and journalists to Step Out with EXTEND Exercise to celebrate the charity’s 40th anniversary. During the first week of October, EXTEND Teachers included taster sessions suitable for newcomers, delivering exercise classes to regular attendees and leaving enough time to have a birthday party and raise some funds for our important national charity, EXTEND Exercise.

Teachers please visit the News and Events page on the members section of our website.   Click on Teachers Update for information concerning the Phonographic Performance Licence (new rules have applied since 1st May 2013).  You will need your password.

We would like to raise awareness in national and local consumer media of our important work. One day per week of voluntary support from a journalist would be very greatly appreciated.

Visit our Vacancies page (in the "Contact Us" section) for further details.
